MEETING VENUE AND ON-SITE ACCOMMODATIONS
The meeting venue is the Oakland Marriott City Center/ Oakland Convention Center, located in the heart of Oakland, California, a vibrant and ethnically diverse city situated on San Francisco Bay. The NACCB 2012 conference facilities are attached; the hotel, opening reception, all symposia, presentations, most events, and the exhibit hall are all located on the same site. This is for the convenience of delegates, for whom quick navigation of myriad presentations and opportunities for networking are essential. The newly renovated Oakland Marriott City Center has a business center, outdoor pool, fitness center, and free wireless internet. It also houses two restaurants and a coffee shop; Level Two restaurant and Twelve Bar Lounge both serve California Cuisine, and Peet's Coffee is one of the Bay Area's favorite coffee roasters.
A block of rooms is reserved at the rate of $134 per night plus tax for single or double occupancy (View Rooms at the Oakland Marriott City Center). Please stay at the Oakland Marriott City Center: Improve Your Experience and Help SCB
Why should I book at Oakland Marriott City Center hotel?
Reasonable Rate: The hotel room rate is very reasonable ($134/night) in comparison to other nearby hotels and for the high quality of rooms provided.
Convenience: It is extremely convenient to have you room just upstairs from all the Congress activities. Networking is part of what you come to do at conferences and staying at the Marriott will ensure more opportunities to run into all the folks you want to connect with. By staying at the Marriott, you don't have to worry about transportation costs each day, or bad weather, or forgetting something in your room as you leave.
Helping SCB: Staying at the Marriott helps SCB meet our room-block commitment which, if not met, can lead to lost revenue for the Society, which hurts all of us.
Is it important for me to let the reservations agent know that I'm associated with the SCB convention?
If you use the link above to reserve your room at the Marriott, you will automatically be recognized as part of the SCB NA Congress and receive the negotiated low rate. If you prefer to call the hotel directly, you must identify yourself as part of the NACCB group to receive the $134/night negotiated rate.
