Student Travel Awards
We will be notifying registered student presenters (oral, poster) of travel award opportunities by contacting them directly.
Free SCGIS Membership Offer
Bonus! Once you have registered for the NAACB conference, you can claim a free one-year membership in the Society for Conservation GIS (SCGIS), when you register online for and attend the SCGIS-2012 conference (July 19-22 at the Asilomar Conference Grounds in Monterey, California.) Conveniently, the SCGIS-2012 conference is right after our SCB NACCB so it's easy to make arrangements to attend both meetings. Your new SCGIS membership would entitle you to the reduced "members-only" rate for SCGIS-2012 conference registration (an $80 savings!). Note that the free SCGIS membership is only for those who register for and attend the SCGIS conference. See your NACCB registration receipt for details. (Note: Even if you are already a Member of SCGIS, you can claim an equivalent bonus, but you must register for the SCGIS-2012 conference before registering for the SCB-NACCB conference to learn how.)
Congress Registration Fee
Registration fees below include admittance to the Opening Reception, Symposia/Presentations, Plenary Sessions, Poster Session/Social, Film Night, and other complementary events open to all delegates. There is no need to preselect the symposia or presentations you will attend. You will need to indicate on the registration form and pre-pay for trainings/short courses, field trips, and the closing banquet. Complementary coffee-breaks will be offered each day.
Guests of Registered Participants
Your guests are welcome at NACCB 2012. The friends and family of registered NACCB participants wishing to join us for the Welcome Ceremony (free!) may do so without special reservations. Guests may also attend the closing reception (ticket required) and/or any of the field trips (paid reservation required). Simply indicate the total number of reception tickets and/or field trip reservations you require during online registration using the online participant Registration Form (link above).

Carbon Offset Project and Fee
The North American Section of the Society for Conservation Biology believes that it and its members are responsible for both the internal and external environmental costs of its activities. In support of this vision, a $15 fee has been included in each conference registration to support the purchase of carbon credits to offset the projected carbon footprint of the 2012 conference. This fee has been calculated to allow for a total offset of between 1,000 and 1,500 tons of carbon dioxide, which we estimate will cover both the carbon emitted by the meeting events and by travel by attendees to the conference. This estimate was made using information previously gathered by the SCB Global Ecological Footprint Committee, who we thank for their continued effort in this area.
The funds raised from this fee will be invested in credits sold by Clear Sky Climate Solutions, a Montana-based company that has previously worked with the SCB Africa Section to offset the carbon footprint of their 2011 meeting. The majority of the credits will support a reforestation project in eastern Texas, a project that was chosen by the conference organizing committee due to its North America location, existing pool of offsets verified under Chicago Climate Exchange rules, and potential biodiversity co-benefit. More information on this project is available at the Clear Sky website above, and additional information will be available at the conference itself.
