Opening Remarks & Reception

We will begin the night with remarks from SCB North America Section President Carlos Carroll, perspectives on Wisconsin's conservation legacy from Dr. Curt Meine, Senior Fellow with the Aldo Leopold Foundation and Center for Humans and Nature, Research Associate with the International Crane Foundation, and Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and welcoming remarks from Legislative Representative David Greendeer, from our host tribal government, The Ho-Chunk Nation. 5:00 - 6:00 pm
COMPASS Panel: From The Frontlines To The Bottom Line: Journalists Explain How to Make Your Science Resonate
Join us for this fun and lively opening event that will explore the heart of the conference theme, and get to know the journalists attending NACCB. A panel of leading journalists will share their insights and what their audiences - from The New Yorker to High Country News - want to know. This fast-paced, interactive panel, moderated by Nancy Baron of COMPASS, will touch on some of the urgent questions, real-world challenges, and emerging opportunities to get conservation science into society’s conversations.

Reception on the Grand Terrace
Reconnect with colleagues & friends, and welcome new members & attendees to the congress at our kick-off reception, overlooking beautiful Lake Monona. Cash bar & appetizers provided. 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Join us Wednesday evening, July 20th on the Monona Terrace Rooftop to cap off the congress with a Closing Reception.
Following the closing keynote talk, we will head upstairs to Monona Terrace's Rooftop Center to celebrate! Cash bar and dinner provided, up-tempo blues music by Madison's own The Glenn Davis Band featuring Westside Andy, a silent auction hosted by the Chapters committee and more! An event not to be missed! Stay tuned for details to come.
